APV Task Force Additive Manufacturing

The APV (International Association for Pharmaceutical Technology e.V.) is a scientific non-profit organization. The goals of the APV are to advance and distribute scientific understanding of development, manufacturing and application of medicines. Membership in the APV Task Force Additive Manufacturing (AM) is open to every stakeholder (companies, private or public research organizations, universities, ...). The Task Force provides a platform for open discussion, promotes the exchange of knowledge and identifies emerging topics in pharmaceutical AM.

Key topics are:

 

  • Every technology suitable for additive manufacturing of medicines and drug-coated or drug-containing medicinal products
  • Analytics and quality aspects of excipients, drug substances, intermediate products and manufactured medicines and medicinal products
  • Batch manufacturing via AM
  • Individualized manufacturing via AM

The task force has 40+ members from multiple companies and institutions, e.g., Alpha-Pharma-Service, Aprecia Pharmaceutics, Belgrade University, Berlin-Chemie, Desitin Arzneimittel, DFE Pharma, Digital Health Systems (DiHeSys), Evonik, F. Hoffmann-La Roche, Greifswald University, Laxxon Medical, Merck, Novartis, Polarixpartner, Sanofi-Aventis, Technical University Braunschweig, Uppsala University and Zentiva.

Meetings take place up to four times a year. Current leader and founder of the Task Force is Dr. Julian Quodbach, Department of Pharmaceutics, Utrecht University, The Netherlands.
