2. PETRS Conference 2023

After a very successful starter conference in 2022 and two interim online meetings, the next PETRS conference was held on August 10 and 11 at the Department of Pharmaceutics and Biopharmaceutics at the University of Marburg. This year, the focus of the meeting was on different post-doctoral career paths, and there was the opportunity to get a closer insight at what a PostDoc position in industry, or what a professorship in the Netherlands or Austria might look like. Also discussed was how artificial intelligence is influencing our science as well as teaching now or could in future. An online event based on this topic is already planned for 2024.  At the end of the day, we had the chance to get a closer insight into the research of our host department from Prof. Bakowsky and enjoyed a tour of the labs. Afterwards, we met for a networking dinner in the beautiful city center of Marburg.

The next day began with a closer look at the master’s degree programs in pharmaceutical sciences or related fields. Lectures and laboratory courses offered in this context, such as innovative and modern dosage forms, were presented and formats like the “Journal Club” were discussed. As last year, the event ended with a workshop on the future plans of the network and the topics for the next online events.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to the Galenus Privatstiftung (Wien) for their financial support of the conference.

PETRS network becomes an associated member of APV

Founded in 2020, the PETRS (Pharmaceutical Engineering and Technology Research Scientists) network of young scientists in German-speaking countries brings together scientists in the postdoctoral phase to evaluate cooperation opportunities, share methodological competencies and discuss the latest teaching methods. This new cooperation and the associated connection to the APV focus group "Education and Science" offers the young researchers the opportunity to work together with established scientists on current topics and to contribute new ideas and thematic focuses.

The APV is pleased to welcome this group of early career scientists as an associate member and looks forward to a successful collaboration.
